Lucy May was born in Malaysia in 1982 and grew up in Southampton. She has lived and worked in London for seven years, completing an MA in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art in 2010. She attended the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art in Oxford from 2002-2005.
Current work is influenced by Thai boxing and Sicilian Baroque. These are incorporated into a sculptural practice with an ongoing commitment to exploring decorative excess, visceral bodily experience and personal narrative.
